Main uses in hair loss: alopecia areata, lichen planopilaris, frontal fibrosing alopecia, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, discoid lupus, pseudopelade.

Common names: clobetasol, fluocinonide, hydrocortisone, 

  • Topical steroids include steroid creams, lotions, foams, ointments and shampoos. 
  • A variety of strengths are available form the very weak hydrocortisone strength to the very strong clobetasol strength.
  • Topical steroids are used for a range of scarring and non scarring hair loss conditions. Among the most common uses of topical steroids are for alopecia areata, lichen planopilaris, frontal fibrosing alopecia, discoid lupus, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia.
